I Want To Be a Nana

Above is "Nana" by Manet

I want to be her so badly.
So what if she's a prostitute... *cough*
She's so strong and so bold. The fact that she's staring at the viewer and smiling and also her body language shows that she is confident and in control, where as her "protector" is sitting feebly at the edge of the picture, showing that he has no power, even though stereotypically, we would expect there roles to be reversed...

I don't even like Manet that much,
this image is just stunning.
She's so inspiring.

OH SHIT!                I just remembered that I have school tomorrow >:l
I actually really love school, I'm just way too under-prepared...
OH, but I got a new school bag just before Christmas, so it's not all bad...
It's from this really lovely little shop in town called "forbidden planet".

Why am I such a geek?
I also got some of those nice dotty opaque tight things to wear for school ^.^
It's really sad that that makes me as happy as it does :)

Is It Too Late To Say Happy New Year...?

yeah I think  so...
no matter ^.^

Any hoozel...

For those of you that don't know (which is going to be most people I imagine) I want to become a costume designer when I'm older.
If I had to pinpoint one single person who has had a humongous impact on that, I would undoubtedly pick Colleen Atwood.

Without me even realizing she's been the designer for many of my favorite movies (costume wise (yes, I will watch a film and comment on the costumes the entire way through)).
She's worked on Memoirs of A Geisha, Chicago, Sweeney Todd, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland and Sleepy Hollow to name but a few fantastic costumes.
Still think I'm talking through my ass?
The detail and consideration she puts into every costume baffles me.
It's not just "what's pretty", or "what's the character like", it's "what is that character going to be doing? 'Cause they've got to dance or jump or run, their costume has to let them do that".
That's something that I often forget. I'll remember a load of shit about foreshadowing and context, but never movement ^.^

Here are some of my favourite bits of her work...

The detail in her work is beautiful...
